Our constitution paved the way for every challenge we are experiencing as Americans.

Reconstruction occurring less than 100 years after our constitution was drafted was a key indicator that what was established was not working.

Approximately 160 years later, and all we’ve done is continued to amend a document that is foundationally and ideologically flawed.

HOW CLOSE ARE WE TO A NEW CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION?

According to the Congressional Record, the required 34 states have invoked Article V with the intent of hosting a new convention.

WHAT IS ARTICLE V OF THE CONSTITUTION?

Article V of the U.S. Constitution states “The Congress, whenever two thirds of the House deem it necessary, … or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments…”

Ratification of amendments require three fourths of the vote.

WHY SHOULD WE BE PAYING ATTENTION?

States are rapidly advancing initiatives to amend their individual constitutions and redraw maps to cut out the voting power of “minority groups” by eliminating their district entirely, rapidly changing voter maps, changing voting locations last minute, and other voter suppression tactics.

The administration is trying to limit the right to vote for anyone whose last name does not match their birth certificate. Women are the specific target but everyone who changed their name will suffer.
